ABOUT THE ROLE & PERSON

Content is the centre of gravity for alan. & Sectorlight. It’s where we’ve come from and it’s what we’re famous for. But, we can’t rest on our laurels. The Content Director will be tasked with taking us to the next level. This is a new role and will be working across both of our brands. You will have the opportunity to shape a new proposition and build a team who will report to you.

You will lead the way with an exquisite talent for storytelling and build the infrastructure required to establish alan. & Sectorlight as the number one agency in the world for content strategy, creation and activation. 

The Content Director will be an incisive strategic thinker and pragmatic creator, with a keen marketing mind. However, at your core, you will remain a journalistic firebrand with an insatiable drive to tell stories that provoke people to think differently. 

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop and own our agency’s content and activation propositions.

  • Build capabilities, structures and processes to deliver core agency content competencies of: strategy, creation and activation.

  • Provide leadership, direction and management to the content division.

  • Develop and own strategy to establish our agency as global leader for owned content.

  • Drive R&D for new content products and services.

  • Direct development of data-led content strategy for clients, including activities such as:

    • SEO audits and keyword planning

    • Thematic landscape analysis

    • Channel strategy

    • Content calendar management

    • Media planning

  • Lead and drive standards in creation of content, including:

    • Editorial

    • Infographics and data visualisation

    • Research reports

    • Guides, ebooks and other mid-funnel marketing content

    • Video

    • Podcasts

  • Oversee activation of content across email, social and PPC.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Impressive background in content creation, ideally with experience in business journalism.

  • A good understanding of B2B content.

  • Digital content activation knowledge.

  • Natural storyteller. Passion for data storytelling.

  • Compelling verbal and written communicator.

  • Exceptional copywriting and editing skills.

  • Strong quantitative analytical ability and experience using data in content planning.

  • Pragmatic approach to making ideas a reality through effective direction and practical understanding of the content creation process.

  • Working understanding of content activation across social, email and PPC.

  • Acute strategic mind able to analyse and solve complex problems.

  • Profound communicator, able to energise and inspire clients and colleagues.
